On January 28, a local caching legend, Alan Stricklin (a.k.a. txoilgas) passed away during a caching trip in Oklahoma. I first met Alan when he became a geocaching legend by becoming the first geocacher to complete my Texas County Challenge cache after having found or hidden a geocache in all 254 counties in the State of Texas! Alan, may you rest in peace (or begin creating a Heaven County Challenge for the rest of us).
If you have special geocaching memories of Alan, please feel free to share them with the rest of us in the comments below.

Its good to see a great person honored. God bless and RIP.
Alan will be truly missed in the pathtag and Geocaching community. When we heard of Alan Passing it saddened us so much to know we lost another great geocacher. We have traded with him many of times and is always been a joy. May you R.I.P and hope when it is our turn we will reunite again. Hugs, thoughts and prayers to everyone who are friends and family of Alan. You will be in our daily thru this difficult time.

He took over some of my virtuals when I was away from the game for awhile. Very nice I believe he said he served in the navy and had worked with the first gps satellite systems while he was in navy

He didn't die. He just got archived.
